About

The Tiger inn, Stowting offers everything a traditional country pub should. Tucked in the downs between Ashford and Canterbury this pub may prove difficult for some to find but it’s worth persevering, once found never forgotten! The best access is to follow the signs from Stone Street just off junction 11 of the M20. This ideal location is great for those who want somewhere to grab lunch after a stroll on the Wye downs or a mid point rest along the North downs way. Dogs are always welcome in the bar and you can tether your horse on the rail in the car park!

Emma Oliver & Benn Jarvis have been running this 17th century pub for the last five years, they have been busy putting the finer touches on your surroundings to make it even more cosy and relaxing. Outside there is plenty of room for al fresco dining when the weather permits, along with a recently constructed old oak framed smoking shelter, which houses a mixture of pews and bar stools made from old tractor seats! There is also an environmentally friendly roasting hot heater to take away those late evening chills. Inside it is traditionally furnished with newly cushioned dark wood pews in the bar and a mix of antique and classic pine tables, chairs and pews in the restaurant. This pub is tastefully decorated throughout with dried hops around the ceiling, soft bulb lighting as well as candles stuck in bottles on each table,  the bar area has traditional dark wood floorboards with open fires at each end. There are some lovely faded rugs on the stone floor in the newly used part of the restaurant at the rear of the pub, this area is great for larger parties. There is an array of books in the bar, which are intended to be read rather than left for decoration as well as brewery memorabilia & paintings all around, there is always something interesting to catch your eye.

You will always receive a friendly welcome from the staff at the Tiger, they are always on hand to tell you what beers we can serve you from our traditional hand pumps and chat about your day. Fullers London Pride and Shepherd Neames Masterbrew are always available along with a choice of 3 guest ales, past guest beers include Harveys Best, Spitfire, Theakstons Old Peculiar and Ruddles to name a few. They have also recently started serving Goachers, which is brewered not far away in Maidstone. You have a wide choice of wines by the glass, locally procuced cider and a vast choice of malt whiskies for that night cap. For the driver there is always a good selction of soft drinks which include Owletts natural fruit juices offering flavours such as apple & elderflower or pear & ginger.

We pride ourselves on using local, free range and organic produce, fresh eggs are collected daily from a local farm. Our head chef is from a Michelin star background, the menus offer something to suit all tastes and budgets, food intolerances can easily be catered for with prior notice. Bar food includes a good choice of filled baguettes, jacket potatoes, soup of the day along with the ever popular Nachos and the traditional puff pastry steak, ale & mushroom pie.  The classics, scampi, lasagne and traditional chunky cheeseburger and a vegetarian option such as risotto with Roquefort, apple and toasted walnuts are always available.  Evening dishes range from spicy chilli & ginger chicken, pork loin with apple compote, fillet steak & tiger prawn skewers.
